Director of Operations

We are looking for... a rockstar Operations Director to help us carry out our mission. You will report to our CEO Jason Calacanis and work out of our office located in SoMa (http://launch.co). You have to be nimble enough to take on new projects and solve problems in real time with your own judgement.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage...
    • Office Operations
    • Incubator logistics
    • Event Operations
      • Manage and negotiate costs with all vendors including: furniture, catering, power, internet, A/V, etc.
      • Determine and track the revenue & costs for each event
      • Customer Service & Outreach (answering registrant emails, processing tickets)
      • Create floor plans for the various areas of the Festival (demo pit, Hackathon, main stage, etc.)
  • Think proactively & anticipate problems - we need to have backup plans for our backup plans.
  • Lead additional ad-hoc projects
  • Create and Maintain online assets

Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree (or proof of high fluid intelligence)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Impeccable organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Desire to work in a team-based, entrepreneurial company
  • You're going to need a very high EQ because we're dealing with a range of folks.
  • Design experience a HUGE plus (Photoshop, Illustrator, HTML experience)
  • Be frugal but never cheap -- and understand the difference.
  • Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
  • You'll need to be available seven days per week, but this isn't a kill-yourself, 90-hour per week gig. It'll be long hours during busy season, but we don't want people burning out.
  • Be exceptional at productivity and communications software (i.e., Google Docs, Keynote, CRM, CMSs and whatever the next cool tool is).
  • Startup experience is a plus, but if you fit the qualities above you'll understand what we need.

Compensation: $70k

Account Executive - Partnerships, TWiST, Incubator & LAUNCH Events

We are looking for... A sales executive with 5-10 years experience in enterprise software, events and/or podcasts who can consistently grow their pipeline, and exceed goals on a quarterly basis. Commissions are uncapped, the more you sell the more you earn, it is that simple.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and maintain robust database of potential sponsors
  • Continuously conduct email, phone and event based outreach campaigns to recruit new partners.
  • Research and identify new sponsors
  • Execute against all phases of your pipeline, progressing deals through the sales cycle towards closing business.
  • Develop and deliver sales presentations - in person and over the phone
  • Accurately track sales activity in sales database
  • Sell sponsorship packages to C-Level executives as well as marketing managers
  • Respond to inbound sponsorship inquiries
  • Create custom sponsorship contracts
  • Obtain signed sponsorship contracts
  • Interface with operations team to ensure all sponsorship requirements are accurately met
  • Develop new and compelling conference sponsorship packages
  • Support on-site execution of sponsorships at conferences

Skills Required:

  • Intrinsically motivated with a high sense of urgency to drive results through achievement of sales targets
  • Great connections to CMOs, CEOs, COOs and PR executives at great startups, and established tech companies as well as other Fortune 500 companies
  • Create and deliver great partnership and sponsorship programs
  • Advanced communication skills - i.e. quick to respond, distribute and follow up on high priority revenue opportunities as well as the ability to communicate with C-level executives.
  • Creative - must be able to develop event marketing opportunities that are compelling for all of the different market segments of our sponsorship base
  • Must be an operational minded sales person - willing to walk the conference floor to meet and greet existing and potential sponsors.
  • You embrace a solution-oriented approach to selling, ensuring your customers receive value from the products they buy from you.
  • Ability to close sales
  • The ability to listen first and add value in every conversation.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and manage multiple projects/deals at the same time.
  • Expert networking capabilities
  • Be passionate about conferences and events

Compensation: $90k-$150k Base + Comp
